Estee Lauder Ombre Blush 'Witty Peach'

In the past, whenever i thought of Estee Lauder, it conjured up images in my mind of twinsets, pearls, blue rinse and false teeth. It was the kind of brand my granny would be reaching for.

Luckily that was a long time ago, and I am now in a completely different mindset!! With the launch of the Bronze Goddess 2012 Capri Collection, they have really caught my attention recently.

On a random trip to boots not so long ago, my hawk eyes spied a beautiful new release blush from Estee Lauder; the Pure Color Blush in 'Witty Peach'.

The fact that it was an ombre blush, and had the word 'peach' in it meant that it had to be bought of course. I have wanted Mac's Ombre Ripe Peach for ages, but seen as it now sells on eBay for ridiculous prices, I figured this was a good alternative.

'Witty Peach' retails for £24 for 7g of product. The packaging is simple and classic with the Estee Lauder logo displayed in gold on the front, a good sized mirror and a small brush.

The only thing that put my off this blush was it was described as a 'satin' finish and when swatched it felt quite chalky in texture. However when you use a brush and swirl it around the pan it does not translate as chalky at all.

You can of course use the lighter or darker side of the blush separately, but when swirled together it gives a very subtle yellow toned peachy-pink. The finish it gives is nearly matte so looks very natural, and it has fast become my go-to everyday blush.

Topshop Makeup Haul

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself in the makeup section in Topshop Newcastle. I have previously bought a Topshop cream blush and was really impressed, so thought it was about time to give some other products a go.

For me the thing that really appeals is their cute packaging, I really don't think any other brand comes close in terms of quirkiness and originality. I particularly enjoy the way the designs look hand-drawn with an almost childlike quality to them. To be honest even if the product itself was rubbish, I would still purchase it for the novelty factor of the packaging.

On my quest to achieve glowy, radiant skin, two products caught my eye. The first one was 'Skin Glow' a liquid highlighter. It comes with a handy pump to make sure you don't get any wastage, and at 30ml for £10 you are getting a decent amount of product for you money.

When rubbed into the skin and the light hits it, it is very shimmery and you can see beautiful pink undertones. This reminds me of Mac's strobecream, although the texture of this is alot lighter. I will be using this mixed into my foundation or moisturiser to give my face a healthy glow.

Next up was the Topshop Highlighter in 'Sunbeam'. This is really pigmented as you can see from the photo above, but its also really finely milled so you will have no problems blending this out to give a subtle shimmer rather than full on gold overdose! I found my brush picked up the product really easily, and even though I am quite pale it suited my complexion, but I'm pretty sure this would look good on any skin tone. This was £10 for 6.5g, so again good value.

Also, being a nail vanish junkie I could not resist picking up a couple of nail varnishes. I opted for two jewel toned colours, in 'Jewel in the Crown' (above) and 'AWOL' (below). I have worn AWOL, and although it looked really nice on, it did not last long at all and chipped within a few hours. This doesn't bother me a huge amount though, as I change my nails every two days or so anyway.

Hope everyones having a good week, and have managed to avoid getting caught out in this horrific British weather!!

Thanks for reading!

Let Me Introduce Myself...

I've been meaning to do this for well over 6 months....so here it is! My first ever blog post!!
Finding it slightly wierd that I'm talking to myself, but hopefully that will change soon!

I have been reading various beauty blogs for nearly a year and a half now. I will happily read anything, although I am particularily fond of product reviews to help me decide what is worth buying, and what isn't. I must be pretty nosy too as things like makeup collections/ whats in my bag/ room tours fascinate me, I never seem to tire of them!

Don't know why it has taken me so long to do this as I have always loved writing and I have alot of free time on my hands. I'll put it down to first time nerves...

Thats me, hello!! ^^^

So, a little bit about me. I'm Kirsten, I'm 22 (feel way older than that though, and I swear I have found my first ever wrinkle!!!). I'm a proper northern girl at heart, and live in County Durham with my Mam, 2 cats and my dog. Thats all I'm going to divulge for now, I'm sure you will find more out later.

Just quickly before I sign off, I have called this blog Freedom Of Peach because of my love for all cosmetics associated with the colour peach, and also a play on words of 'freedom of speech' because of course I am voicing my opinions.

I will be doing a haul post in the next few days, so thanks for reading and see you then :)
